Yomif Kejelcha breaks world Half marathon Record

The 2019 World 10,000m silver medallist, Yomif Kejelcha broke the world half marathon record at the Valencia Half Marathon on Sunday (27) in Valencia, Spain.

The 27 year-old who is also the 2016 World Indoor 3000m champion, took one second off  Jacob Kiplimo’s former record of 57:31 which he set in Lisbon three years ago with a new World Record mark of 57:30.

Kejelcha who also holds the world records for the indoor mile and half-marathon as he ran 3:47.01 in 2019, was closely followed by the race favorite Daniel Mateiko from Kenya who also pulled a new personal best of 58:17 with Kenya’s Isaia Kipkoech Lasoi closing the podium three finishes in a new personal best of 58:21.
