
World 800m champion Mary Moraa will face-off with the 2019 world champion Halima Nakaayi from Uganda at the fifth edition of the Kip Keino Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour – Gold slated for Saturday 21, 2024 at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
The 23 year-old who is also the double Africa 400m champion and trains under the watchful eye of her coach Alex Sang, has promised fireworks at home as she prepares to defend her title.
Moraa who is the reigning Commonwealth Games 800m champion, will be targeting to lower her personal best as she faces one of her fierce rival, Nakaayi, who is also the 2022 World Indoor 800m bronze medallist and carries a life time best of 1:58.58 that she set two years ago at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais, where she took silver.

Moraa who has promised to deliver to her home fans a show like no other and has encouraged them to come and watch her in big numbers as she is so ready to deliver something special to them.
“I am ready and excited for the event; I will be targeting to retain my Kip Keino title. I will be under no pressure because this is my first 800m of the season and I will be targeting 1:56 low or high,” said Moraa who is set to make her debut at the Doha Diamond League slated for 10th, May.
The two will also compete against a star studded field that included Africa 800m silver medallist Netsanet Desta, African Games 4x400m silver medallist Ortalie Nowe of Botswana and French 800m National champion Lena Kandisounon
Other title contenders include Luxembourg 800m champion Cherlene Matthias, the 2022 Africa championships 4x400m silver medallist Naomi Chepchirchir, Naomi Korir, and Vivian Chebet.
