The Eritrean Dawit Seare starred in one of the biggest shocks of the Copenhagen World Championships in the 5K road race, as he defeated Jakob Ingebrigtsen in a spectacular finish. The Nordic athlete had to settle for silver, while the Eritrean Saymon Amanuel completed the podium.
Seare, an athlete still relatively unknown outside the international circuit and with a 5,000-meter personal best of 13:07.77, withstood Ingebrigtsen’s late attack and clinched the world title in a finish decided by just a few meters. Eritrea thus placed two athletes on the podium, one of the day’s standout images. There was no Spanish participation in this men’s event.
🔥 What a crazy finish you pulled off, Seare!!
