The reigning Doha Marathon champion, Valary Jemeli Aiyebei added another silverware to her cabinet this year, when she ran away with the women’s title at the 3rd edition of the Iten International Marathon held on Sunday (24) in Iten, Elgeywo Marakwet.
The 33 year-old who took command of the race at the 32km mark, never looked back as she surged further ahead to cut the take first in a time of 2:28.57 and was followed by Vivian Jerotich Kosgei in second place in 2:32.04 with Sheila Jebichii Kemei wrapping up the podium in 2:37.28.

“Am used to this course because am at home and I train here in Iten, I had trained for this race and am happy for the win,” said Aiyabei
Irene Korir and Beatrice Miningwo finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 2:39.43 and 2:40.27
Aiyebei took home a cool Kshs I million.
