Following another successful edition of the Valencia Half Marathon, which has enjoyed strong backing from the Fundación Trinidad Alfonso, Mercadona founder Juan Roig has been asked about the possibility of staging the Marathon on both Saturday and Sunday, as London plans to do next April. It’s clear that the overwhelming demand for the 42.195-kilometer race in Valencia—the Turia city—could fill two marathons over a single weekend. In a video published by Las Provincias, one can see Juan Roig, accompanied by Paco Borao, the president of CorreCaminos, not expressing complete certainty about the idea.
As a clarifying note, the Mayor of London has already confirmed that the double edition planned for 2027 will be an exceptional move, and that the British Marathon will return to its usual Sunday slot from 2028.
