The Media Maratón Melilla Ciudad del Deporte 2026 begins well before November 15. Next Monday, September 7, a new edition of “Train with Us” will kick off, the free program promoted by the Directorate-General for Sports Policy to accompany for ten weeks those who want to prepare the 21.097 kilometers of the Melilla event. The initiative is designed so that runners with different goals and levels can approach their preparation in a progressive and structured way. To that end, two groups have been established, with 40 places in each. The first is aimed at those whose main objective is to finish the Media Maratón Melilla Ciudad del Deporte, whether they already run regularly or are taking on for the first time the challenge of completing 21 kilometers. The second is intended for runners with greater experience and a prior training base who want to improve their performance, using an approximate time of 1 hour and 45 minutes as a reference.
Participants will combine weekly training plans with in-person group sessions on weekends.
Ten weeks to arrive prepared for November 15
“Train with Us” will begin on September 7 and will run for the ten weeks leading up to the 14th Melilla City of Sport Half Marathon, which will take place on Sunday, November 15. The preparation will again be led by fitness coach Héctor Infante, responsible for designing the weekly guidelines, developing the content and guiding the runners during the in-person sessions. The program will combine digital tracking with group trainings. During the week, participants will receive instructions to carry out the sessions individually, while on weekends in-person trainings will be organized. The contents will be available in digital format through the channels of Melilla Ciudad del Deporte and registered participants will also receive the directions via the email provided at registration.
Half Marathon within reach of more runners
With this initiative, Melilla Ciudad del Deporte aims to encourage more people to take on a distance that represents one of the great challenges of popular athletics. The program brings the 21,097 kilometers closer to those who until now might have considered the distance too demanding and, at the same time, provides more specific preparation for experienced runners who want to improve their performance. Participation in “Train with Us” is free and requires prior registration. Each modality has a maximum of 40 places, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until the quota is filled. With the program starting next September 7, the countdown to the Melilla City of Sport Half Marathon will begin, reaching the city streets ten weeks later, on Sunday, November 15.
