Thiery Ndikumwenayo wins Cross Internacional das Amendoeiras

European Games 5000m champion, Thiery Ndikumwenayo won the 10km senior men’s title at the 47th edition of the Cross Internacional das Amendoeiras held on Sunday (25) in Albufeira, Portugal.

The 26 year-old who is also the 2014 Youth Olympic Games 3000m silver medallist, fought off with the 2022 World 5000m bronze medallist, Oscar Chelimo from Uganda, whom he overpowered in the final stages of race, to cut the tape first in 27:18 with the latter coming home in second place one second later.

Burudi’s Rodrigue Kwizera finished in third place in 27:19.

The 2018 Commonwealth Games 5000m bronze medallist, Edward Zakayo Pingua and European Indoor 3000m silver medallist, Isaac Kimeli finished in fourth and fifth in respective time of 27:31 and 27:49.
