The women record might fall in London, says Chepngetich

World Women Marathon Record holder, Ruth Chepngetich will be among the top de la cream athletes to grace this year’s London Marathon slated for April 27, 2025 in London.

The 30 year-old ran the fastest time in history by a female athlete at last year’s Chicago Marathon and becoming the first woman in history to run a marathon in under 2:10.

Chepngetich smashed the old course record of 2:11.53 set by Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa’s by nearly two minutes, when she clocked 2:09.56.

“The London Marathon always brings together the best athletes in the world,” said Chepngetich.

Chepngetich joins a star studded field that includes Olympic marathon champion Sifan Hassan and compatriot Peres Jepchirchir, who holds the women-only marathon world record.

Chepngetich is hopeful that the women record might fall again on that day.

“My preparations are in top gear as we try to go and attack Peres’ world record,” she concluded
