The Most Chaotic Start in Running History — Don’t Miss the Video

November 6, 2026

After almost 40 years of racing in events around the world, I’ve seen plenty, but this chaotic start at a race held in Nigeria surpasses them all. It’s a true miracle that there weren’t severe consequences from the absolute chaos right from the first second of the race. 8,000 runners were taking part, and the starting arch was far too small, and not properly anchored, which caused the start to feel like a real Spartan Race with runners collapsing all around. The race in question was the Ikogosi Marathon in Ekiti State, and it took place on October 31, 2026.
