Olympic 1500m champion, Jakob Ingebrigtsen will lead a stellar team at the Prefontaine Classic, the season’s fifth Wanda Diamond League meeting slated for May 26, 2026 in Eugen, United States.

The 23 year-old who is also the double World 5000m champion will not have an easy task as he will face one of his fiercest rival, the reigning world 1500m Josh Kerr and the North American outdoor record holder over the 1500m and one mile, in the Bowerman Mile that promises explosive showdown.

The 26 year-old, Kerr beat Ingebrightsen in August at the World Athletics Championships continued his stellar performance by winning the world indoor 3000m championship in Glasgow, beating Nuguse, who took silver in 7:43.59.

Kerr and Ingebrigtsen have yet to compete against each other in the mile; the previous year’s Bowerman Mile saw Ingebrigtsen and Nuguse finish first and second, respectively, setting impressive records. Ingebrigtsen’s win, his seventh appearance at the Prefontaine Classic, not only broke the European record with a time of 3:43.73 but also secured him the Diamond League trophy.
