The 25 Best Half Marathons to Run in Spain Before Year-End

August 12, 2026

Are you eager to take on the half-marathon challenge again after the summer? Without leaving Spain you have multiple options (though for the most prominent events there are no spots left) to run a half marathon. We have selected these 25 possibilities spread across our country.

Soria Half Marathon, September 26

Abel Antón awaits you to run the 21 kilometers and 97 meters that bear his name, and it features a unique final prize: local roasted pork and a cold beer. Let’s see who can top that finisher’s medal! In addition to the 21 km, the day also features the 5K Fermín Cacho with the presence of the Barcelona ’92 Olympic champion.

Valladolid Half Marathon, September 27

There are no bibs left for this flat course with a downtown route starting on Miguel Íscar Street and finishing on Acera de Recoletos. They also offer the option to run the 5K legua.

Marbella Half Marathon, September 27

There are also no spots left for these 21 kilometers along the Costa del Sol. The course takes you almost the entire distance along the Mediterranean.

Toledo Half Marathon, September 27

A superb opportunity for a weekend of sightseeing and running in the city of El Greco. There is also a 10-kilometer race. It features an approximate elevation gain of 170 meters and combines monumental zones of the historic center with flat, asphalt sections in the Peraleda area and the bridges over the Tagus River.

Algeciras Half Marathon (Cadiz), October 3

A half marathon with a moderate elevation gain (160 meters) starting and finishing at the Enrique Talavera Stadium. Good price: €12 until September 3 and €15 from September 4 until registration closes

Logroño Half Marathon, October 4

An opportunity to toast to a good time with one of the region’s famous wines. A flat circuit through Logroño’s main streets and avenues, starting at Chile / Duques de Nájera Roundabout and finishing on Muro de la Mata Street.

Gijón Half Marathon, October 10

After moving from its usual pre-summer date, the curious circumstance remains that Oviedo and Gijón halves take place within less than 24 hours of each other. This does not mean there are no spots to run the 21 km in the coastal city of Gijón, which keeps its entirely flat route (only 29 meters of elevation).

Medio Maratón de Gijón

Oviedo Half Marathon, October 11

A challenging route (with 368 meters of positive elevation) in the Asturian capital, finishing on Uría Street, passing through areas such as Matalablima, the Senda Verde, Cuyences, Fitoria, Valdeflora and the Naranco monuments (Santa María del Naranco and San Miguel de Lillo).

Estepona Half Marathon, October 11

First edition of the Estepona Marathon and Half Marathon.

Bilbao Half Marathon, October 17

One of the best options if you’re looking for a marathon that is a major festival. Start at 7:00 p.m. from the San Mamés Stadium esplanade and finish near the Guggenheim Museum.

We ran it last year and really liked it. A flat course finishing at the Chapín Municipal Stadium. This year it celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Pontevedra Half Marathon, October 18

A two-lap course with a positive elevation gain of about 86 meters. There is also a 10-kilometer race.
