Tebogo and Alfred named best athletes of Paris Olympics at ANOC Awards

Olympics 200m champion Letsile Tebogo and the Olympic 100m champions, Julien Alfred were honored as the best male and female athlete at the memorable 2024 Association of National Olympic Committees

(ANOC) Awards held at the Estoril Congress Centre in Portugal.

The two were awarded following an epic display at the Paris Olympics earlier this year, where Tebogo beat the current fastest man alive Noah Lyles and Alfred surprising many when she ran away with the women 100m title against a strong deep field that included Sha’Carri Richardson, Melissa Jefferson and Daryll Neita.

Both Tebogo and Alfred won their country’s first Olympic gold medals in Paris.

This award holds much significance for many athletes from different countries across the world as well, particularly in track and field as this sport has been dominated by Jamaica and the USA.

The winners of each award were selected by the ANOC jury, comprised of representatives from each of the Continental Associations, The ANOC Athletes commission chair, ASOIF president and ANOC secretary general.
