Snow Running Sierra Nevada 2027: Registration Opens

September 15, 2026

The Snow Running Sierra Nevada is preparing to celebrate its 16th edition in 2027, established as the pioneering event and the absolute benchmark for snow running races in Europe. The upcoming September 30 will officially open the registration period for all those brave enough to experience an adventure that blends mountain running, the mystique of an expedition, and the wild beauty of the Andalusian mountain range.

Born under a unique philosophy —a race designed by skiers for mountain runners—, the race, at 12.7km, plunges participants into an extreme and magical Alpine environment. The route demands a challenging ascent that touches the almost 3,000 meters above sea level, only to then challenge competitors with a dizzying descent of nearly 1,000 meters of elevation.

A globally oriented event with deep local roots
Since it marked a historic milestone in 2022 by hosting the first Snow Running World Championships, the event has strengthened its international profile and prestige year after year, attracting the world’s best specialists by being included in the ISF international calendar.

This success is the result of a solid organizational structure that enjoys the firm institutional support of the Department of Culture and Sport of the Junta de Andalucía, as well as the strategic hosting agreement with Cetursa Sierra Nevada and the Municipality of Monachil, with the Granada Provincial Council providing institutional backing, along with the collaboration of San Miguel 0’0, the official Rock Experience jacket, the Laser 4 medals, and the official Lurbel socks. The infrastructure and the event are completed with the lighting by Disur, the Municipality of Monachil, The Mountains Hotel, Melia Hotels, Cenes de la Vega during bib collection, Forus Centro Deportivo, Lanjarón mineral water, and Sport Life and Corredor as official media, under the organization of CD Altalí and Mamut Sierra Nevada, and with the backing of FADMES for the Andalusian Championship. For more information, please consult directly with the event organizers.

Spots for this iconic adventure are limited and are expected to sell out again in record time. From September 30, the countdown to challenge the snow under the stars will have begun.
