Sawe and Kipkoech started 10 seconds after the gun. This caused Sawe to Miss the opportunity to be the fastest debut. And break the course record. My analysis was incorrect as I did not expect Sawe to run such a great marathon after such a blistering half just eight weeks prior. Sawe having a world lead in the marathon and a second best half marathon time. Puts him in same category as Haile and S Wanjiru. Having an actual marathon debut of 20155 puts him in same league as the late Kiptum. What a debut performance by Sawe in Valencia.

Kipkoech started 10 seconds after the gun caused him a chance to run with the leaders and make the podium. As the three guys ahead of him had finished less than 10 second ahead of Kipkoech.
