Ruth Chebet wins Istanbul Marathon

Rio Olympics 3000m steeplechase champion, Ruth Chebet dominated the 46th edition of the Bankasi Istanbul Marathon held on Sunday (3) in Istanbul, Turkey.

The 27 year-old, who is just fresh from winning the Harbin Marathon, two months ago, took charge of the race at the 30km mark and never looked back as she was led by pacers to the very end of the race.

Chebet who has won all her four marathons that she has participated in the last eleven months, cut the tape 2:24.45 and was followed in second place by Urge Diro over eight minutes later with her compatriot Ayantu Abdi sealing the podium three finishes in 2:33.49.
