Former Africa Games 5000m champion, Robert Kiprop reigned supreme in the 10km Senior Men’s race at the at the third leg of Athletics Kenya Iten Cross Country Championships, on Saturday (2) at the Iten Sports Grounds in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

The 27 year-old beat a strong elite field that included Asbel Kiprop Kiprono, the winner of the Machakos Cross Country Meeting and Vincent Kiptoo.

Kiprop who defended his title well, took the honors in 30:38.7 and was followed in second place by Kiprono in a time of 30:47.7 with Kiptoo wrapping up the podium three finishes in 31:20.4.

“I thank God for today’s race though the tension was high,” said Koech.

“I had prepared well for this race because I refused to go to Machakos and Kapsokwany because I wanted to defend my title on home ground because I have lots of fans down here at home,” he said.
