The Zara Athleticz Speed Run already has a date. On November 22, amateur runners will once again enjoy one of the most anticipated events on the national calendar, a course designed for those who want to experience speed and reach their personal best.
After two years selling out the 10,000 bibs available weeks in advance, Zara Athleticz Speed Run will expand the registration cap to meet the growing demand from amateur runners, who find in this event, thanks to its favorable and downhill-friendly profile, the ideal stage to push beyond their own limits.
From the surroundings of Plaza de Castilla, with Madrid’s skyline as a backdrop, the Zara Athleticz Speed Run will pass through some of the city’s most emblematic locations, such as the Bernabéu, Colón, Cibeles, Neptuno, or Atocha. The final kilometers, along the banks of the Manzanares, will cap off a race that goes beyond competition to become an urban running experience with an innovative visual presentation.
The Zara Athleticz Speed Run is part of the national calendar of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation. Moreover, it has been the stage where Spanish athletes such as Adel Mechaal and Laura Luengo have achieved some of the fastest records in history for the distance. In the last edition, more than 1,200 runners crossed the finish line in under 40 minutes and 1,133 women set a new best mark under 50 minutes.
Zara Athleticz Speed Run will feature multiple start waves to offer a superior race experience, as well as several musical cheering points along the course, accompanying participants from the start to the finish, located on Paseo de Yeserías, beside Madrid Río.
Registrations for Zara Athleticz Speed Run are already open and will be sold in phases, with prices starting at 16 euros (plus a 3-euro runner’s license if you are not federated) for the first 4,000 bibs, and up to 20 euros for the last spots, with a total cap of 12,000 participants.
