Rahma Tusa runs third fastest time in Houston

Ethiopia’s Rahma Tusa ran the third fastest time in history at the 52nd edition of the Chevron Houston Marathon held on Sunday (14) in Houston, United States.

The 30 year-old who has not raced since 2018, had set her sight on the course record time of 2:19.12 set two years ago by United States Keira D’Amato but missed by 21 seconds as she lowered her personal best time with four minutes, cutting the tape in 2:19.33.

Tusa was followed closely in second place by Kenya’s Vicoty Chepngeno who holds the Houston half marathon course record (1:05.03) in 2:19.55 with Ethiopia’s Tsegaye Beyene Melesech closing the podium three finishes, over five minutes late in 2:24.50.

German’s Deborah Schöneborn and Jovana de la Cruz Capani of Peru finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 2:24.54 and 2:26.49.
