Kenya’s Peter Mwaniki Aila will be the man to watch at the 16th edition of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru slated for April 28, 2024 in India.
The 29 year-old who holds the fastest time on paper of 26:59 that he got early this year at the 10K Valencia Ibercaja, where he won the bronze, will lead his compatriots that will include the 2019 African U20 10000m champion, Bravin Kipkogei Kiptoo, who comes to this race with a personal best of 27:16.
Last year’s third-place finisher, Hillary Kipchirchir Chepkwony of 27:34 that he got in January of this year in Valencia and this year’s Prague Half Marathon bronze medallist, Patrick Mosin have also been added on the start list as the latter also comes with a life time best of 27:26 that he got last year at the 10K Facsa Castellón, where he won the silver.
The 17 year-old John Nahhay Wele from Tanzania and last year’s World Cross Country U20 bronze medallist, Boki Diriba from Ethiopia, will also be fighting for the podium. The two holds life time bests of 28:14 and 28:25 respectively.
The race organisers have assembled a strong elite field to try and chase the course record of 28:37 set two years ago by Nicholas Kimeli from Kenya.
The winner will pocket Kshs 3,307,098.60 as prize money with a course record bonus of Kshs 1,017,568.80 is also in the offing.
