Peres Jepchirchir breaks the women marathon record

Peres Jepchirchir headlines Ras Al Khaimah Half-Marathon

Olympic marathon champion, Peres Jepchirchir crashed he women only marathon record at the TCS London Marathon Sunday (21) in London.

Jepchirchir erased the five year old record set by Mary Keitany from Kenya of 2:17.01 with a new world women only record of 2:16.16 and was followed by world marathon women record holder, Tigist Assefa in 2:16.23 with the former world half marathon record holder Joyciline Jepkosgei closing the podium three finishes in 2:16.24
