Pauline Thitu targets the top honors in Spain

Kenya’s Pauline Mutwa Thitu will be the person to watch at the 14th edition of the Castellón Marathon scheduled for February 16, 2025 inCastellón de la Plana, Spain.

The 34 year-old comes to this race with a personal best of 2:09.25 that she got on her third race over the distance at the 2023 Hannover Marathon, where she took silver. That year, Thitu ran in three marathons (Marathon de la Rochelle, Tallinn Marathon and Hannover), where she finished in second places in all of them.

Thitu will not have an easy ride as she will have to get past her compatriots Pascaline Jelagat of 2:32.28 and the 2016 World U20 5000m silver medallist, Emmaculate Chepkirui, who also carries a life time best of 2:32.51.

The race organisers have put together this strong team to try and lower the race course record of 2:27.39, set five years ago by Webalem Bazanew from Ethiopia.
