The double Olympic marathon champion, Eliud Kipchoge is among the five elite athletes named by the Athletics Kenya to represent Kenya for the forthcoming Paris Olympics slated for July 26, 2024 to Aug 11, 2024 in Paris France.
The 39 year-old who is regarded as the greatest marathon runners of all time and is the 2016 and 2020 Olympic marathon champion. Kipchoge was the world record holder in the marathon from 2018 to 2023, with a time of 2:01.09 set at the 2022 Berlin Marathon, until the record was broken by the late Kelvin Kiptum at the 2023 Chicago Marathon with a time of 2:00.35.
Kipchoge who has run four of the 10 fastest marathons in history and is the fastest human being alive, will partner with the three time World marathon major champion, Benson Kipruto. Last year’s Valencia Marathon second place finisher, Alexander Mutiso Munyao, has been added to the list and goes to Paris with a life time best of 2:03.11.
This year’s Tokyo marathon silver medallist, Timothy Kiplagat and the last year’s Berlin Marathon second place finisher, Vincent Kipkemboi Ngetich have also been named in the team that will fight for Kenyan glory in Paris.
