Mercy Kibor wins Ravenna Marathon on her debut

Kenya’s Mercy Jebet Kibor made her marathon debut more memorable when she won the women’s 42km race at the Maratona di Ravenna, on Sunday (10) in Ravenna, Italy.

Kibor who took charge of the race from the 21km mark and ran solo for the entire duration, cut the tape in a time of 2:44.54 and was followed a distant later by the race favorite Geta Betatu Aga from Ethiopia who crossed the finish line six minutes later with Estonia’s Maris Heinaru wrapping the podium three finishes in 2:56.45.
