
Just after clinching double tittles in Machakos Cross Country a fortnight ago, Maureen Jepkoech Chebor was at it again in the 10km senior women at the second Athletics Kenya Kapsokwany Cross Country Weekend Meeting held on Saturday (26) at the Kapsokwany Boys Secondary School in Bungoma County.
The 21 year-old who graduated to the senior category after participating at this year’s Sirikwa Classic Cross Country Championships where she finished in 13th place in the Junior category race, beat a strong field that included the World Road Running half marathon bronze medallist, Catherine Reline and former Kenyan Delvine Relin Meringor, who now trades for Romania.

Chebor who won the First leg of AK weekend Meet in Machakos last weekend and is coached by Emmanuel Kipkoech, out-sprinted Reline in the final stages of the race to cut the tape first in a time of 34:05.87 with the latter forced to settle in second place in 34:07.77.

Meringor who switched her citizenship to Romania two years ago and finished third last year at the Barcelona Marathon, closed the podium three finishes 34:38.54.
Lucy Chepoghon Chelele and Nelvin Jepkemboi who last month finished in fifth at the tRUNsylvania International 10K Brasov, finished in fourth and fifth in respective time of 34:52.06 and 35:20.37.
