Mary Moraa wins second gold for Kenya

World 800m champion, Mary Moraa added another title to her already established name as she gifted Kenya her second gold medal in the women 400m race on the third day of the ongoing 13th edition of the All-Africa Games at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, in Accra, Ghana.

The 22 year-old who is also the Commonwealth Games 800m champion, became the third Kenyan in history after 37 years to win this coveted title. The first Kenyan to win the African title was the legendary Tekla Chemabwai in 1973 in Lagos, Nigeria and Francisca Chepkurui in 1987 Nairobi.

Moraa clocked 50.57 to win the gold medal and was followed by Nigeria’s Joseph Esther Elo in 51.61 with Burudi’s Sita Sibiri closing the podium in 51.74.
