Mary Moraa takes the women 400m title at the AK Weekend Meeting

World 800m champion Mary Moraa started off her season with a superb win in the women 400m race at the third edition of the Athletics Kenya Weekend Meeting held on Saturday (27) at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

The 23 year-old who is also the National 400m Record holder took on the Kenyan National record co-holder in the 4 × 10m relay Milcent Ndoro and World U20 400m silver medallist, Damaris Mutunga.

Moraa who is the reigning CommonWealth Games 800m champion took control of the race with 200m remaining to clinch the victory in 51.97 followed by Ndoro who has represented the country at three consecutive Commonwealth Games, in second place in 52.72 with 18 year, Mutunga closing the podium three finishes in 53:41.

Double Africa Games bronze medallist Veronica Kamumbe Mutua and Gladys Jepkemoi came home in fourth and fifth in respective time of 53.75 and 53.92.
