Mary Moraa headlines the Doha Diamond League

World 800m champion Mary Moraa will headline the third leg of Wada Diamond League Meeting in Doha scheduled for May 10, 2024 at the Qatar Sports Club, in Doha, Qatar.

The 23 year-old who is also the reigning Commonwealth Games 800m champion, who previously showcased her talents in Doha during the 2019 World Championships, where she reached the semi-finals in the 400m, expressed her anticipation for the event.

“I’m looking forward to returning to Doha as build up my readiness for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games” said Moraa.

Moraa who is commonly known as the Kisii Express, won another title when she ran supreme at this year’s All-Africa Games where she took the women 400m title.

“Every year I’m learning more and growing in confidence, Doha has a huge athletics base and I can’t wait to see them cheering me on and hopefully I give them my victory dance,” she concluded.

In recent years she’s become a dominant force in the 800m, lowering her personal best from 2:03.27 in 2020 to 1:56.03 with victory at the World Athletics.

The reigning Diamond League winner will face-off with the World Indoor 800m silver medalist Jemma Reekie of Great Britain.

The Doha leg is the third meeting of the 2024 Diamond League. The series comprises 15 meetings in total across four different continents, starting with Xiamen on April 20 and concluding in Brussels on September 13-14.
