Laura Luengo Reclaims Spain’s 21K Record Ahead of December Marathon

October 25, 2026

Laura Luengo has reclaimed the Spanish record for the half marathon with a time of 1:08:28 at the Valencia Half Marathon. The Spanish athlete completed the 21.097 kilometers at an average pace of 3:14 per kilometer, surpassing the previous national best set by Carla Gallardo.

Luengo finished in the 20th place in the women’s standings in a race of extremely high level, won by Kenyan Sheila Chepkirui with a time of 1:03:51.

The record represents an extraordinary boost for the Spaniard, whose main objective for the season is the Valencia Marathon, which will be held on December 6. Luengo will approach the race with the confidence that this performance brings in one of the fastest half marathons in the world.
