
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has complimented Kenya for its effort in fighting the doping menace that has engulfed the country.
Wada said that it is happy with the way Kenya is handling the issue of enhanced testing and the magnitude number of tests that Anti-doping Agency of Kenya (Adak) has done,
While speaking to the press after paying a courtesy call to Athletics Kenya (AK), the Cabinet Secretary, Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports, Kipchumba Murkomen said, “I had a meeting today with the president of WADA and we had very good discussion about the progress that Kenya is making in dealing with Anti-doping”.

“The enhanced program we have with World Athletics (WA) is very good that we are able to test, deter and we are hoping to be the lead country in terms of compliance in fighting doping globally,” said Murkomen.
During their discussion the Wada president, Witold Bańka, pleaded with the CS to consider increasing the funding to Adak for efficient fight against doping.
“Today, I met with Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, the Minister responsible for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sport in Kenya. We had a productive discussion about the need for increased funding for anti-doping efforts in Kenya and the country’s important role in the region,” said Bańka.
The Sports CS who was making his inaugural visit at Riadha House, praised the AK for the great leadership in steering the running culture in the country and for the exemplary performance that they have been showing across the globe.
“Am impressed by the reception I have received. Today was my visit to understand the programs that are being run by Athletics Kenya. AK is a very great stake holder in the ministry of sports because of our performance as a country globally” said the CS.
“I needed to have a personal interaction with the leadership of AK across all the branches in the country,” he emphasized.
During his visit to AK offices the CS also I interacted with the AK leadership, staff, and officials drawn from different regions and affiliate institutions. I was brought up to speed on their calendars, their success stories, the facilities they have and the challenges they’re facing.
