Kenya’s Kenneth Kiprop Omulo ran away with the men’s title at the 19th edition of the Khon Kaen Marathon held on Sunday (14) in Khon Kaen, Thailand.
The 30 year-old who came to this race with a life time best of 2:12.38 that he got last year at the Izmir Marathon, where he took the bronze, beat a strong lineup that included nine Ethiopians to emerge victorious in a time of 2:17.08 and was followed by Bililign Yomer in second place in 2:18.22 with Wendwesen Damte closing the podium three finishes in 2:19.49.
Ethiopia’s Sintayehu Jena and Tamiru Kassa finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 2:21.28 and 2:23.19.
The race course record of 2:15.24 set last year by Paul Eyanae from Kenya remains standing.
