The burial date for the World Men’s Marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum has been changed from the initial date of February 24 to February 23 due to President William Ruto’s change of diary.
This move was made to enable President William Ruto to attend Kiptum’s burial after the Kenyan government took over to accord him state funeral in his home village in Chepkorioon, Elgeyo Marakwet County.
The President was planning to attend Kiptum’s funeral on the former date but it clashed with the state funeral of the late Namibian president Hage Geingob, which he plans to attend. Geingob’s state funeral will be held on February 24, ahead of his interment on Sunday, February 25. President William Ruto will fly out of the country on Saturday
