Former world half marathon record holder, Joyciline Jepkosgei will defend her women title at the 34th edition of the Barcelona Half Marathon slated for February 16, 2025 in Barcelona, Spain.

The 32 year-old who went to the race last year with her own pacers, led a 1 and 3 Kenyan podium finish when she smashed the old course record of 1:04.37 that had been set the previous year by her fellow Kenyan Irine Kimais, with a new course time of 1:04.27.

Jepkosgei who was also the former world record holder in the 10km was followed in second place by the 2015 World 5000m silver medallist, Senbere Teferi of Ethiopia in 1:04.38 with Gladys Chepkurui sealing the podium in 1:06.32.

Jepkosgei will head back to Barcelona with knowhow of how the course is after facing a very strong wind at the beginning of the race last year. She has set her mind on improving her time after a brilliant outing in last edition.
