World Hammer throw silver medallist, Janee Kassanavoid arrived in the country for the fifth edition of the Absa Kip Keino Classic, a World Athletics Continental Tour- Gold scheduled to be held on Saturday (20) at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
The 29 year-old who is also the bronze medallist at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon expressed her excitement of competing at the Kip Keino Classic for a fourth time.
“I am super excited to be back to the country and competing at the Kip Keino Classic for the fourth time. I am looking forward to starting off my season,” said Kassanavoid.
Kassanavoid said she will be simply looking to enjoy herself as she ramps up her preps for the summer Olympics in Paris.
“I haven’t competed since August so this is sort of my season-opener. I am looking to open with something big and it would be fun,” she said.
Kassanavoid who will be defending her title, will not have an easy ride as she will battle the four-time world champion Anita Wlodarczyk of Poland.
