Jakob Ingebrigtsen smashes World Indoor Mile Record

Olympic 5000m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen kicked off his season with breathtaking performance at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais by destroying the world indoor mile record on Thursday (13) night in Liévin, France.

The 24 year-old obliterated the previous record of 3:46.63, set just last Sunday by United States’ Yared Nuguse at the Millrose Games, lowering the mark by a massive 1.49 seconds and setting a new World Indoor Record of 3:45.14.

The Four-time European Athletics Championships gold medallist was followed in second place by Netherlands Stefan Nillessen in 3:52.70 with Ireland’s Cathal Doyle sealing the podium in 3:53.18.
