History making Purity Gitonga wins Osterlauf 10k

After finishing third at last year’s edition, Purity Kajuju Gitonga reclaimed the top spot at the Paderborner Osterlauf 10k race held on Sunday (31) in Paderborn North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The 27 year-oldled a 1-2 Kenyan podium, went to history books as the only woman to run three races as clocking same margin of time of 30:57.

Gitonga was followed in second place a distant later by the recently crowned All-African Games half marathon bronze medallist, Nancy Jepleting in 31:34 with German’s Konstanze Klosterhalfen sealing the podium three finishes in 32:09.

United States Chloe Steinbeck and Sheila Jeruto from Kenya finished in fourth and fifth in respective time of 32:17 and 32:25.
