Benson Kipruto runs the fifth fastest time in the world at Tokyo Marathon

Double world marathon Major champion Benson Kipruto moved to the fifth on the marathon all-time list when he destroyed the race course record at the 17th edition of the Tokyo marathon held on Sunday Morning in Tokyo, Japan.

The 32 year-old led a 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish as he destroyed the old course record of 2:02.40 set by his compatriot, the former world record holder, Eliud Kipchoge with a new course and personal best of 2:02.16.

Kipruto was followed in second place by Timothy Kiplagat in a new personal best of 2:05.55 with Vincent Ngetich wrapping up the podium three finishes in 2:04.18.
