Ferdinand Omanyala storms to another National Record in Paris

Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanya broke Kenya’s National Record and set a new Meeting Record at the Meeting de Paris Indoor, a World Athletics Indoor Tour, held on Sunday (11) at the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

The 28 year-old crashed the old Meet Record of 6.54, set seven years ago by Spain’s Yunier Perez with a New National and Meet Time of 6.51.

Omanyala who is taking his races one step at a time was followed by the 2016 Africa Games 200m bronze medallist, Emmanuel Matadi from Liberia with European Games 100m bronze medallist Jeremiah Azu of Great Britain wrapping up the podium three finishes in 6.59.

“I feel great. The season looks promising. This season will not get ahead of myself. No predictions. Am trusting every step of the way,” said Omanyala.

While Speaking exclusively to Athletics News after the race, Omnayala said he is not predicting anything but hopes that he performance speaks as he approaches the 19th edition of the World Indoor Games slated to start from 1-3 March in Glasgow, United Kingdom.  

“For now am handling each day as it unfolds, Trusting the training sessions that we are going to have leading into the world indoors,” he concluded.

European Games 100m bronze medallist, Raphael Bouju from the Netherlands and France National 60m champion, Jeff Erius finished in fourth and fifth place in a tie of 6.63.
