The 2019 Africa U20 3000m silver medallist Emmaculate Anyango stole the show in senior 10km women race at the third edition of the Sirikwa Classic, a World Athletics Gold Tour held on Saturday (03) at Lobo Village in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.

The 23 year-old who is also the second women alive over the 10km distance, took charge of race with two laps remaining and maintained her steadfast lead for the remainder of the race to cut the tape first in 32:55.

Anyango beat the former world half marathon record holder, Joyceline Jepkosgei, who ran a calculated race as she used World Road Running Half marathon bronze medallist, Catherine Reline Amanang’ole as a rabbit as held onto her for the last 3km then made a bold move of out-kicking her with a lightning speed as she created a 40m gap to cross the finish line in second place in 33:10 with the latter wrapping up the podium three finishes in a time of 33:18.

“I did not do well in class, so I cannot fail to do well in running. I’m going to utilize my talent well during the World Cross Country trials

Birell 10km second place finisher Cynthia Chepngeno and Glorius Jeokirui finished in fourth and fifth in respective time of 33:30 and 33:43.
