World 10,000m silver medallist Daniel Ebenyo sent a strong warning to the world when he glided to victory in the 10km Senior Men’s Race the third edition of Sirikwa Classic World Cross Country Gold Tour held in Lobo Village, Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County on February 3, 2024.

Ebenyo who displayed a great show with his steady and calculated moves took charge of the race with  one lap to go and increased the gap between him and the World U20 Cross country champion Ishmael Kirui as he surged solo in a blistering kick to cut the tape first in a time of 29:19.

The Commonwealth Games 10,000m silver medallist was closely followed by the 18 year, Kipkurui who crossed the finish line a second later with Olympian Weldon Kipkirui sealing the podium three finishes in a time of  29:27

“In the second lap I got a stich. I almost dropped out but I saw my coach Eric Kibet and he motivated me to finish. This is my second race in Kenya this season after the Kenya Police Service Cross Country Championships and it shows that all is well and I am ready for the World,” said Simiu.

Marathoner Samuel Naibei Kiplimo and 18 year-old, Vincent Langat finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 29:27 and 29:32 respectively.
