Kenya’s Grace Loibach Nawowuna broke the women course record at the third edition of the Makao Bridge Half Marathon, held on Sunday (06) in Makao, Hong Kong.
The 21-year-old who won a team gold medal at the 2023 World Cross Country championships, smashed the old course record with a new course time of 1:07.56.
“The weather was good and I am very happy for the win and setting my first course record. The race organisation was also very good,” said Nawowuna.

Nawowuna who led a 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish was followed in second place by Sheila Chelangat in 1:08.09 with Viola Chepngeno sealing the podium in 1:08.09.
Glady Chepkurui from Kenya and the 2022 World Athletics marathon Champion, Gotytom Gebreslase of Ethiopia finished in fourth and fifth in respective time of 1:08.23 and 1:08.54.
Nawowuna took home Kshs 1,939,500 (USD 15,000) as prize money.
