Gout Gout to compete on grass at Stawell

Australia’s wonder kid, Gout Gout, who made history by becoming the fastest 16-year-old in the world when he crashed Usain’s Bolt record at the Australian All Schools Athletics Championships in Queensland, will race at the 143rd edition of the Stawell Gift Carnival, set to take place on Easter Monday (April 21) in Stawell, Victoria, Australia.

Gout who turned 17 years in December and now the hottest property in Australian athletics, will race the famous 120m sprint on grass on Easter Monday, though they have agreed in principle to run the race, the final arrangements are still being formalized.

The signing of Gout is not yet official, but sources who declined to speak publicly until the matter was made official said it was highly likely he would race at Stawell, which will be a week after him racing at the national championships in Perth.

Gout has become one of the most sought-after around the world as an emerging star of the track. His decision to race in Stawell is expected to create more hype for the Gift Carnival than world champions Asafa Powell (2013) and Kim Collins (2011) did when they competed there. Both Powell and Collins never won this race in the years they were there.

Gout is studying year 12 this year, while juggling with his training, which includes a recent two-week camp in Florida with the Olympic 100m champion, Noah Lyles.
