Faith Kipyegon to launch her Diamond League season in China

Double Olympic 1500m champion, Faith Kipyegon will launch her season at the Xiamen Diamond League slated for April 20, 2024 in Xiamen, China.

The 30 year-old who is the number-one-ranked female athlete across all event groups – is among 12 Olympic gold medallists and 27 world champions who will light up the spectacular Egret Stadium.

 Kipyegon who is also the four-time world champion, has not been beaten in a 1500m since 2021 but she will face a stern test over her specialist when she will take on 10 women who have run below four minutes, including the double World champion, Gudaf Tsegay of Ethiopia, who holds the 5000m world record and world indoor 1500m record.

World 1500m silver medallist Diribe Welteji of Ethiopia has also been roped in alongside her compatriot the reigning world 1500m Indoor champion, Freweyni Hailu.
