Faith Kipyegon Nominated for Honorary Degree Award

Double World record holder Faith Chepn’getich Kipyegon has been nominated by the University of Eldoret for the award of Honorary Doctorate in Education.at their 13th Graduation Ceremony slated for November 21, 2024 in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.

KIpyegon is being recognized by the University for her outstanding season that included three world records, her third 1500m Olympic gold and an Olympic silver medal in 10,000m.

Through their social account, the university said, “Ms. Kipyegon is an accomplished middle and long distance runner and is the reigning 1,500 meter and Mile World Record holder. Her most notable feat was becoming the first athlete to be a three-time Olympic champion as she won three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the 1500 meters women’s race. During the 2023 season Faith set World Records in the 1,500 meters and the Mile within 49 days”.

This announcement was made by the Eldoret University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Kimeli Cheruiyot, PhD.

KIpyegon has also been nominated to defend her World Track Athlete of the Year award title scheduled for December 1, 2024 in Monaco.
