Evans Chebet wins silver in New York

Olympic marathon bronze medallist, Evans Chebet won silver at the New York City Marathon, held on Sunday (03) in New York City.

Tokyo Olympics marathon silver medallist Abdi Nageeye from Netherlands was step-for-step with 2022 champion Chebet before using a powerful kick that the latter could not respond to as they were heading into Central Park to come away with the win in 2:07.39 with Chebet coming home 6 seconds later.

Kenya’s Albert Korir, who had been dropped at the 36km mark, pushed himself beyond limits to pass Geoffrey Kamworor and Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia, finishing the race in third and clocking 2:08.00

The Olympic marathon champion, Tola who was also the defending champion found the going too tough as he was forced to finish in fourth.
