
The reigning Olympics 800M champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will be the star to watch at the second Athletics Kenya Kapsokwany Cross Country Weekend Meeting slated for Saturday (26) at the Kapsokwany Boys Secondary School in Bungoma County.
The Trans-Nzoia County born athlete who is also ranked number one over the 800m distance will be participating in the two-kilometer loop event for endurance purposes as he prepares for the 2025 season.
“I like to participate in Cross Country races because they help me in my build up for the coming season, which am praying that my body remains in great shape,” said Wanyonyi.

The 20 year-old who is also the World 800m silver medallist, will be joined by the World 800m Indoor bronze medallist, Asbel Kiprop who finished fourth in the 1500m at the Paris Olympics and Budapest World Championships in August of last year.
Reigning World U20m champion, Andrew Kiptoo Alamisi will also be competing in the men’s 8km event as he prepares for a cross Country meet in Italy next month.
