Emmanuel Wafula runs away with the Rome Half Marathon title

Former Africa 3000m steeplechase champion, Emmanuel Wafula ran away with the men’s title at the Rome Half Marathon held on Sunday (20) in Rome, Italy.

The 19 year-old who came to this race with a life time best of 1:01.10 beat a strong field that included seasoned athletes led by Gideon Kiprotich Rop and Antony kimtai.

Wafula who finished sixth at the 2022 World U20 3000m steeplechase championships, took a commanding lead as he dropped Rop at the tail end of the race to lead 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish.

Wafula cut the tape first in a new personal best of 59:57 and was Gideon Kiprotich Rop in second place in 1:00.56 with Antony Kimtai closing the podium in 1:02.22.
