Doris Lemngole wins her first Cross Country championship title

University of Alabama’s, Doris Lemngole went into the history books as the fourth Southeastern Conference runner to win the NCAA Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday (23) at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in United States.

The 22 year-old broke away late in the race to finish with not a single runner in front of her, clocking 19:21.0 to win her first cross country individual championship.

Lemngole was followed in second place by Florida’s Hilda Olemomoi in 19:28.7 with Arkansas’ Paityn Noe sealing the podium in 19:42.3.

Lemngole, who was runner-up in 2023, joins Florida’s Parker Valby (2023), Alabama’s Mercy Chelangat (2021) and Missouri’s Karissa Schweizer (2016) as NCAA champions from the SEC.
