Dolphine Omare breaks a 17 year course record in Japan

The 2019 Africa U20 5000m silver medallist, Dolphine Nyaboke Omare broke a seventeen year course record at the 76th edition of the Kagawa Marugame International Half Marathon held on Sunday (04) in Marugame, Japan.

The 22 year-old who is also the reigning Gifu Half Marathon champion led a 1-2-3 Kenyan podium finish as she smashed the old course record of 1:07.26 set by Japan’s Kayoko Fukushi with a new course time of 1:06.07; beating the 2005 World U18 1500m champion and  race favorite Sheila Chepkirui to second in 1:06.47 with Caroline Kariba wrapping up the podium three finishes in 1:07.36.
