Dolphine Omare sets a new course record in Marugame

Kenya’s Dolphine Nyaboke Omare broke the women course record at the 77th edition of the Kagawa Marugame Half Marathon, on Sunday (02) Marugame, Japan. 

The 23 year-old who is based in Japan, came to this race as the defending champion and race course holder with a life time best of 1:06.07 that she set last year.

Omare who knew the course well lowered her own course time by two seconds when she cut the tape comfortably in a new course time of 1:06.05 which is also her new personal best.

Omare was followed by the reigning European Half Marathon team champion, Calli Hauger-Thacker from Great Britain in 1:06.58 with Isobel Batt-Doyle completing the podium three finishes in a new Australia National Record time of 1:07.17.

Kenya’s Pauline Kaveke Kamulu, Japan’s Rika Kaseda and South Africa’s Dominique Scott finished in fourth, fifth and sixth in respective time of 1:07.33, 1:07.53 and 1:08.22.
