
World 10,000m silver medalist Daniel Simiu Ebenyo will make his debut in the 10km senior men at the third edition of the Sirikwa Classic, a World Athletics Tour-Gold series, scheduled for tomorrow at the Lobo Village in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
The 28 year-old who is also the Commonwealth Games 10,000m silver medallist, who says he is ever ready for any challenge that comes before him, will face-off with former World Half marathon record holder, Kibiwott Kandie, the 2016 Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion, Conseslus Kipruto, World U20 Cross Cross Country champion Ishmael Kirui and the 2014 Africa 1500m bronze medallist, Ronald Kwemoi.
“My first time to participate at Sirikwa Cross Country, as the season goes on we are hopeful it shall be productive. I am not sure if I will take part at the World Cross Country we shall see about that later after discussing it with my manager”, said Simiu.
Simiu who is also targeting to be included in Olympics team which has never won any Olympic Games sincve Naftali Temu won the gold medal for Kenya in 1968, will be hopeful of a podium top finish as he plans on how to execute his plans for the coming championships.
“In running there is no magic you have to work hard for what you want, I am not scared of competition, you get what you worked for,” he concluded.
